The Boss (in theory anyway) is Tony Pearce, a Fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and also a Fellow of the Institute of Practising Accountants (ICPA).
Tony started working in tax in 1981 with Lloyds Bank Trust Division, moving to KPMG in 1988. He was lucky to work under two very inspirational bosses in Barry Trevethan and Keith Olford who taught him a lot about the profession and dealing with clients. There was also a lot of fun to be had although times and the work environment have changed very much since the 1980’s! After becoming somewhat disillusioned with the way large firm work was going, Tony left KPMG in 1994 to set up his own practice.
Tony’s long suffering wife, has been integral to the success of the business since day one as without her support it would never have happened nor still be thriving many years later. As typist and secretary, technology has changed her role somewhat over the years but she’s still here!
has been another vital part of the business. A Fellow of the Institute of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA) he was also with KPMG for nearly 20 years. Back in the days of flares, Tony and Dave were at Mt Charles Junior School together where Dave always won the Maths quizzes, much to Tony’s irritation!
Is another Accounts “Senior” within the practice. With a wealth of experience he is a fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT) and is much liked by clients.
Is the latest Accountant to join us part-time. AAT qualified he has worked in practice since leaving school both in his native Cambridgeshire and, since 1996, in Cornwall. He is an avid sports fan and Southampton supporter (if the two go together!)
has also worked for the practice for many years as receptionist having previously worked in local government finance. She handles virtually all payroll matters – a task which has become far more complex over recent times (don’t mention furlough please!). She is in charge of stationery ordering which she genuinely finds very exciting!
A more recent addition to the team is Emma who returned to work in 2019 after having her children. She also covers reception but is mainly on board to assist with bookkeeping via spreadsheets or Quickbooks. She is part AAT qualified and has worked in finance since age 18.
